BEEP BEEP BEEP! 6 AM. While the suburbs are still yawning and stretching, I’m already doing my victory shimmy in the kitchen. Six o’clock is my golden hour, that perfect sweet spot between too-early-to-function and the morning rush.
My resident blue jays are already screaming for their morning peanuts (because apparently, I’ve been thoroughly trained as their personal snack dispenser), while other birds are warming up their morning songs with a bit more dignity.
The coffee maker is doing its magical brewing dance. And there I am, cross-legged on my meditation cushion, trying to focus on my breath while the world slowly wakes up around me.
You might think I’m a bit peculiar. Fair enough! Not everyone gets excited about the 6 AM club. But there’s something absolutely magical about these hours. The day feels fresh, untouched, full of possibilities. It’s like having a head start in a race nobody else knows they’re running.
Here’s my morning symphony (while the rest of the world is still hitting snooze):
- Meditation (where I pretend I’m not already planning my day)
- Coffee communion (pure liquid motivation)
- Writing whatever flows from my caffeinated brain
- Walking around the neighborhood like I own these quiet streets
And yes, this is all before the morning traffic starts humming. By the time my colleagues are dragging themselves to their desks, I’ve already lived a whole secret life.
But here’s the honest truth: When evening rolls around, my energy meter hits empty. While others are making dinner plans or heading to happy hour, I’m basically a human blanket. My brain has checked out. Done. Finished. Ready for pajamas at 8 PM? Absolutely.
And you know what? That’s perfectly fine! Some people come alive when the stars come out. They’re the ones painting masterpieces at midnight or writing novels in the dark hours. But me? I’m that morning person who’s already conquered half their to-do list while the sun climbs over the horizon.
So here’s to us 6 AM warriors, greeting the dawn with sleepy smiles and steaming mugs, finding our rhythm in these quiet hours. We might be yawning by dinner time, but these sunrise moments? Pure gold.

P.S. Oh, the irony! I’m actually writing this post after work (gasp!). But hey, even dawn warriors have their rebellious moments. Tomorrow morning, you’ll find me back in my natural habitat: conquering the world at 6 AM, one meditation session and one peanut-demanding blue jay at a time! ๐ โ
