Three Wishes of a Math Enthusiast

Daily writing prompt
You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

(You know how you sometimes lie awake at night thinking about unsolved math problems? No? Just me? Well, this is awkward…)

Wish #1: The ability to instantly determine whether any given number is prime.

I know what you’re thinking: “Really? With all the possible wishes in the world, you’re going for prime number detection?”

Some people can instantly solve a Rubik’s cube. So, I want to be the person who can look at any number and instantly say “prime” or “not prime.”

Wish #2: The ability to visualize number patterns.

(Remember being the weird kid who saw patterns everywhere? Well, now I’m the weird adult who does the same thing.)

Imagine walking through the world and seeing mathematics unfold in real-time. You watch waves ripple in perfect sine functions. You see fractals emerge in cloud formations. You catch glimpses of geometric sequences in falling dominos.

(Actually, this could get distracting. Genie, scratch that)

Wish #3: The ability to visualize higher dimensions.

I would love to finally understand what a hypercube really looks like without relying on those confusing projection diagrams from Wikipedia.

You might argue these wishes are a bit… niche. (But hey, who needs to wish for a mansion when you could understand the true nature of spatial dimensions? Actually, wait, don’t answer that…)

P.S. I did briefly consider wishing for a proof that P ≠ NP, but with my luck, the genie would give me a proof that P = NP instead, and then where would we be?

P.P.S. If any genies are reading this, I should mention that all these wishes come with an implicit “AND these powers don’t drive me insane OR destroy the fabric of reality” clause.

(If you’re still reading this, you’re either a kindred spirit or very, very lost. Either way, welcome to my world…)
