Hello, book lovers! I recently participated in Goodreads’ “Ask the Author” program, and I’d like to share two of my responses with you, along with some additional thoughts.
Down the Rabbit Hole
When asked which fictional book world I’d visit if I could, I found myself drawn back to a childhood favorite: Wonderland. Despite briefly considering other options, I couldn’t resist the allure of Lewis Carroll’s whimsical and nonsensical realm.

“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” left an indelible mark on my young mind, and its influence persists to this day. If I could step through the looking glass, I’d embrace the absurdity and let curiosity be my guide. There’s something magical about a place where logic is turned on its head, reminding us to question our assumptions and see the world from new perspectives.
A Two-Sentence Dive into Psychological Suspense
Another intriguing challenge was to write a two-sentence story with a chilling twist. Here’s what I came up with:
“I froze in place, heart pounding, as I noticed my shadow on the wall twitch slightly. A moment later, my body involuntarily mirrored the movement, and I realized with growing terror that I was no longer in control.”

While this might initially come across as horror, it’s actually a small hint at my latest project, which delves more into psychological suspense. This micro-story plays on the unsettling themes of loss of control and the blurring lines between perception and reality.
In just two sentences, I aimed to create a sense of escalating dread, moving from subtle unease to outright fear. It’s not about supernatural horror, but rather the terrifying possibility of losing agency over one’s own body and mind.
This snippet offers a glimpse into the themes I’m currently exploring in my work – the nature of consciousness, the reliability of our perceptions, and the fragile boundary between self and other. It’s an exercise in evoking complex emotions through implication, allowing the reader’s imagination to fill in the unsettling blanks.
